Stay Home Stay Safe- Self Treatment Blog Series Cosmetic Solutions in Your Own Home

Stay home and stay safe with self cosmetic treatment.

Are you missing out on that precious time you usually carve out to pamper yourself? Feeling out of sorts and not yourself? You’re not alone! In many places of the world, stylists and estheticians have closed their doors due to sweeping COVID-19 regulations. We got to thinking about all the different aspects of the body care industry that aren’t functioning right now, and how people are missing out on those feel-good services.

In this week’s blog, we will be kicking off our series, Stay Home Stay Safe- Self Treatment. We understand you may be missing important appointments right now and would like to provide you with simple solutions that will keep you feeling your best mentally, physically, and spiritually.

It’s never been a better time to examine which treatments you can take into your own hands. Even when we start to shift back into some sense of regularity, your hairdresser, masseuse, esthetician, and chiropractor will have long waiting periods for appointments when everyone tries to schedule at once. It’s our goal to help you recreate some of those services in the safety and comfort of your home.

You may even find that many of the services you pay big bucks for are more affordable to do at home, with even more exciting results!

Dress Sharp to Feel Swell

If you have been spending more time at home or working from home, you may have noticed that at first, it was fun to stay in your pajamas all day. But as time has progressed, many of us are feeling disoriented and out of sorts with this new lackadaisical routine.

It’s hard to feel motivated, professional, and energetic when you are still in last night’s sleeping clothes. There is an entire mind shift that happens when you take the time to care for yourself; it makes you feel more confident, happy, put together, and ready to accomplish your goals.

It is vital to keep a semblance of regularity in times of uncertainty, and feeling your best is no exception. With many of us participating in countless video calls and learning how to present ourselves in new ways online, feeling good about your image is as important as ever. When you look like yourself, you’ll feel like yourself!

Nurture Your Inner Glow

We developed The Hache Protocol for Pain Resolution™as a way of promoting a holistic approach to wellbeing, and our approach to beauty is no different. Proper rest, staying active, eating healthy, and reducing stress are all necessary ingredients for a healthy and radiant appearance.

Whether you are in sweatpants or formal wear, your hair and skin are iconic facets of your beauty. You don’t have to spend hours getting ready each day when you maintain a healthy and radiant glow from within. You can achieve this with proper hydration and a diet curated to increase your inner and outer beauty.

Hydrate for Supple Skin and Shiny Hair

Water is crucial for shiny, soft, and healthy hair. Staying adequately hydrated can help your hair grow long and strong, while moisture in the hair can help in reducing frizz and tangles.

Dehydrated skin will be dry, itchy, and dull with an overall uneven tone and complexion, making wrinkles and fine lines more noticeable. A 2015 study found that higher water intake (over 3.2 liters) positively impacts skin physiology.

So drink up and glow! Pure, filtered, or spring water is best. If you don’t care for the taste of plain water, fresh lemon, mint, sliced oranges or cucumbers, ice cubes, or a spoonful of apple cider vinegar are all additions that will make it much more palatable and fun to drink!

Beauty-Boosting Nutrients

For healthy and glowing skin focus on adding more of these nutrients to your diet:

  • Healthy fats (such as avocado, olive oil, or nuts and seeds)
  • Lean protein
  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin E
  • Zinc
  • Selenium

For fabulous flowing locks, look for:

  • Vitamin A
  • B Vitamins
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin D
  • Biotin
  • Iron
  • Zinc

Not only will your hair and skin appear beautiful, but they will also be healthy!

Let’s Talk Cosmetics

Many mainstream cosmetics and hair care products contain harmful chemicals and additives.

Maybe you can’t get out to the store to replenish your favorite lipstick, cleanser, facial masque, or mascara. Or perhaps you are looking to try a more natural approach to beauty. Either way, taking a look at what you put on your skin is a good idea. Many mainstream cosmetics and hair care products contain harmful chemicals and additives like:

  • Benzoyl Peroxide
  • DEA (Diethanolamine), MEA (Monoethanolamine), TEA (Triethanolamine)
  • FD&C Color Pigments
  • Formaldehyde Releasing Chemicals
  • Parabens
  • Sodium Benzoate
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate and Sodium Laureth Sulfate
  • Propylene Glycol
  • Petrolatum
  • Talc

1 Tbs. Shea butter

1 Tbs. Raw honey

Note: make sure to do a patch test on your skin with any essential oils to ensure you don’t have a sensitivity to them.

Heart Beet Lip Tint

Kiss nasty chemicals goodbye! With just two all-natural ingredients, you will have a beautiful and moisturizing tinted lip balm.

INGREDIENTS

Raw beet, peeled and grated

Vegetable Glycerin

Small container with a lid

Peel and grate beets and simmer for 10 minutes in a double boiler with vegetable glycerin. Let cool, and pour into a small container with a lid. Experiment with ratios and simmer time for a deeper red or light blush pink color. If you don’thave glycerin, try substituting a plant butter such as shea or cocoa, or a liquid oil thickened with a bit of beeswax.

Healthy Hair Masque

With a bit of conditioner and just two other ingredients, you can create a hydrating hair masque that will leave your hair feeling healthier than ever.

INGREDIENTS

  • For hydration, use honey and aloe vera gel.
  • For shine, use your favorite oil and aloe vera gel. Grapeseed and sweet almond oil are choices that work for most hair types.
  • For softness and slip, use honey and oil.

Instructions: Pour enough conditioner into a bowl to completely cover your hair. Choose your two ingredients from above, and add a tablespoon of each into your conditioner. You may want to use more or less than a tablespoon depending on the length of your hair. Saturate your hair with the hair masque, and leave on for at least 30 minutes and up to 2 hours, then rinse out and enjoy the results!
