Welcome to the Pain Free for Life podcast. In this episode, Dr. Rob Vanbergen is joined by Dr. Wayne Phimister and discusses the mind-body connection when it comes to chronic pain. Chronic pain affects one third of the world and being able to use the power of your mind to help manage the chronic pain that plagues a third of the population. Dr. Phimister talks about the adverse effects of negative thoughts and feelings and how they can come back to us and stunt our ability to recover from chronic pain. Until you address the emotional part of your chronic pain it will be difficult to see a true resolution from it. Dr. Vanbergen looks at how patients put their pain as a separate entity instead of treating it as the same and making the mind-body connection. Fear is concluded to be the consistent underlying factor that separates the mind and body and halts any chance of chronic pain relief.
